Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, walk-in showers typically require strong ventilation to prevent moisture buildup, odors, and improve energy efficiency.
While shower trays are commonly used in traditional showers, they are not always necessary for walk-in showers. Level-access walk-in showers are designed to drain water directly into the floor, eliminating the need for a tray. This design creates a seamless and modern look, and it can also be more accessible for people with disabilities or limited mobility.
However, it’s important to note that some walk-in showers may still require a shower tray if the floor is not sloped correctly to allow for proper drainage. In these cases, a shower tray can be installed to ensure that water drains away efficiently. We suggest you seek advice from a professional.
While there’s no one-size-fits-all, here are some common walk-in shower dimensions:
- Small: 90 x 90 cm. While technically possible, this might feel cramped.
- Comfortable: 106 x 152 cm. This is a popular size for a comfortable shower experience.
- Luxurious: Larger dimensions beyond 106 x 152 cm can create a spa-like feel.
Remember, these are just guidelines. The ideal size for your walk-in shower will depend on your specific bathroom layout and personal preferences.
- Maximise your space: Custom showers fit perfectly, optimizing bathroom layout.
- Prioritise accessibility: Consider features like handles and benches.
- Plan for the future: Design for all life stages.
- Choose a timeless style: Avoid trends to maintain value.
Here are some ideas:
- Built-in seating
- Body jets
- Rainfall showerheads
- Shelves and niches
